ENSEMBLE RUE DU NORD

ENSEMBLE RUE DU NORD
Potential orchestra

Rue du Nord Ensemble is a pool of musicians, an ensemble with various combinations, which adapts to projects of improvised music and composition.

In 2005, as an 18 musicians orchestra, ERN has commissioned a composition to Urs Leimgruber, which was premiered at the 2006 Rue du Nord festival.

During the Swiss-Balkan Creative Music Project ERN used different combinations of trios, quartets and a sextet at the end, to give workshops and concerts in the Balkans between 2007 and 2008 in Sarajevo, Mostar, Belgrade, Pristina, Skopje, Stip et Sofia. ERN met local musicians who took part to the ensemble for improvised music concerts.
This project is followed by a Swiss tour in February 2009 that includes musicians from Belgrade and Sarajevo.

Among its different projects, RNE collaborates with the GUSTAV association directed by Swedish dancer Emma Ribbing as well as the Compagnie CH.AU.
